DON’T LIKE US.

They say the Democrats don’t like us, that is they are not pleased with our paper. Well now! Who would have thought it?, And yet after all these considerations men must remember that we don’t propose, to please them; there was a Democracy that we respect, our father’s democracy, the faith we were taught from our early youth, but alas! though still alive in price principle it is dead in name, or rather the name has been stolen by an ogre’, bastard treason party. The first democracy we loved, the later we shouldered our musket and met in blood on the field of battle; the one loved our country and would die for it, the other would surrender all at the bidding of traitors.

Don’t like our paper eh? Too radical for you is it? So it is for Jeff Davis, and we didn’t suppose it would please either of you, he didn’t like the musket we used to carry and you don’t like what we print, “like master like man”

We understand these latter day democrats are so sore over the land rubs they get that they talk of starting another paper in our city to be filed with choice extracts from the Richmond Examiner, Richmond Whig Cinema, Enquirer, Chicago Times, &c. They think these with, a few voting “straws” taken from rebel prisoners and given as Union votes, the recapture of Rome above Atlanta, the advance of Price and a few Bill Anderson scalpings would salve the sore over and make them feel good generally.

The case looks very gloomy for them now, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Indiana hire been “coerced,”‘ their aspirants for congressional honors been “suppressed”* and “the Constitutional right” of Bill Anderson and Price “to keep and carry arms” has been denied, and worse yet no hope of redress. We think they will not start their paper just now but lay low awhile and cry “the Constitution as it is and the Union as it was.”
