The railroad line between Trenton and Pattonsburg was constructed during 1896 and 1897, being completed to Pattonsburg on June 29, 1897. The Quincy, Omaha & Kansas City Railroad Company began operating from Quincy, Illinois, to Pattonsburg, MO, on January 23, 1902, and from Pattonsburg to Northern Junction on October 2, 1902. The track from Avondale to Northern Junction was abandoned on June 4, 1911, insofar as its use as a main-line track was concerned. Effective June 4, 1911, trains were operated into Kansas City from Block 223 over the C.B.& Q.R.R. Company’s tracks.
