Having already tasted glory in local, district and state competitions, Sara Lin captured another first-place finish last in March, 2006, when she wowed the crowds at the Elks “Hoop Shoot” Northwest Regional Championship.

Sara, daughter of Coach Rick and Lesli Lin of Gallatin, demonstrated an accuracy from the foul line well beyond her years and captured the championship in Paris, TN. Competing against three other state champion free throw shooters, she hit 20 of 25 shots to tie with the state champion from Kentucky. In the shoot-off to determine the regional champion, Sara hit 4 out of 5 shots, to 1 of 5 by her opponent.

Sara, representing Chillicothe Elks Lodge 656, advances to the national finals that will be held at Western New England College in Springfield, Massachusetts, April 20-23. She will be among 72 top youngsters vying for the chance to claim one of six national trophies awarded at the Elks “Hoop Shoot” National Free Throw Contest.

A great showing in the national championship will not only earn Sara a place in Elks “Hoop Shoot” history, but also land her name on a plaque in the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
